SLJ (Summer Learning Journey) Day 2, Week 1

Activity 1 (Tāne Mahuta) (4 Points) Giants Among Us
Would I want visit Tāne Mahuta?

I do think that it is a very beautiful place to be taking adventures and I would love to come here in the future while I was doing researches about Tāne Mahuta it says that people don't usually call it Tāne Mahuta they also call it the Lord of the Forest. Well, the reason why I would like to come here is that it has many things to experience like the tree (Of course) and also it is surrounded by other beautiful nature.

  1. Malo lava Petesa! You go girl! Love that you have been keeping up with your blog over the holiday break. I can see that you are serious about learning about very interesting parts of our country and culture as Kiwis. I have visited Tane Mahuta - it really is amazing to stand and see how huge it is - it's massive! My father's family are from the North and so we got to stop in to see Tane Mahuta on our way up to Dargaville. I also love the way you've clearly explained your solution to your maths problem. Keep going Petesa. Well done!

  2. Talofa lava Petesa,
Activity 1: Giants Among Us - It's really cool that you want to visit Tāne Mahuta. I used to live up North so I had the privilege to visit this place couple times and I can tell you that in there I felt very connected to nature and quite inspired by the majestic size of Tāne Mahuta. Do you know that the tree height is 45.2 meters? That is pretty tall right?!!Furthermore, I like how you mentioned that you want to research and learn more about this endemic tree history.Good job here!

Activity 2: Fabulous Ferns - You did a great job using the slide show to display the three different uniforms as this is a such a nice way to present ideas in a form that is easy and palatable to your readers. You made your view point very clear and you even went beyond and explained your opinion about each uniform before let us know which one you like the best. This is a very solid post, well done!

Activity 3: Weird and Wonderful - I love Maths, specially the "working out" part because it shows that no problem is too big when you can break it down in small steps and also that are many paths to solve a problem. You did well on using place value partitioning to solve this problem, next time make sure to use one line for each step so your post has more clarity and it can be easy to read and understand. Also, I want to mention that I like the fact that you made a poster with bright colours as that made you post very eye catching. Furthermore, thumbs up for written the full answer and use the ml beside the final number, way to go!

Keep up with the great work and be amazing!

    Patricia
